ResCare Workforce Solutions, City Colleges of Chicago, and Dignitaries Joined The Partnership to Welcome Job Seekers, Students and Employers

CHICAGO, IL (MAY 8, 2018) – The Chicago Cook Workforce Partnership (The Partnership), today, celebrates the relocation of its Northside American Job Center to the Truman College Campus.  Joined by City Colleges of Chicago (CCC), ResCare Workforce Services and several dignitaries, The Partnership welcomes job seekers, students, and employers during an open house and resource fair.

The idea for an on-campus American Job Center at Truman College stemmed from The Partnership’s desire to strategically align workforce services with complimentary providers, such as City Colleges of Chicago. Having a shared vision and commitment to achieving synergy in its approach to serving its community; Truman College joined forces with The Partnership.

The Northside American Job Center is one of 10 located in Cook County; all managed and supported by The Partnership.

“This is a great opportunity for the community to learn what American Job Centers have to offer,” said Karin M. Norington-Reaves, The Partnership CEO.

“Everyone will find useful resources here to propel them forward in their search for quality employment, occupational training and job placement. Similarly, employers will be able to access skilled talent,” continued Norington-Reaves.

The Partnership is the largest workforce development agency in the nation, connecting more than 40,000 to its services throughout the Chicagoland region. With more than 2,500 American Job Centers in the nation, The Partnership proudly serves more than 40,000 people through its American Job Center network.

“City Colleges is committed to connecting people across Chicago’s communities with economic opportunity and upward mobility,” said CCC Chancellor Juan Salgado.

“The addition of an American Job Center at Truman College further enhances the robust set of supports we provide to students and will mean community members using the Center can more immediately engage with City Colleges’ academic programs to build skills and advance their careers,” continued Salgado.

Employers and job seekers attended today’s event, with those pursuing work, sharing both the challenges they face and the success they encountered working with the Northside American Job Center to secure employment.

“We want to ensure that every job seeker and business in the region realizes these centers are a resource for them,” said President of ResCare Workforce Services, Mark Douglass.  “Today’s open house is just the beginning of our efforts to get the word out about how we will use this location to help put people to work.”

ResCare Workforce Services manages more than 400 workforce locations throughout the nation – all of which offer programs and services that help connect job seekers with employment opportunities in their communities.

“Truman College, like all City Colleges of Chicago, offers Chicagoans a quality, affordable education, a full complement of student support, and robust campus life; and this partnership adds yet more value for our students by providing another on-site career opportunity resource,” noted Truman College Interim President Dr. Shawn Jackson.

“We also invite those community members using the Job Center to learn about the programs Truman College offers that will help them launch or further their career.”
