The Workforce Board of Northern Cook County

The Workforce Board of Northern Cook County is a leader and advocate for an integrated workforce development system supported by a dynamic group of business leaders, along with education, government, and community leaders, that has been playing an active role in enhancing workforce quality, growth and productivity in north and northwest suburban Cook County.  As a Workforce Board we hold in high regards our members and partners that support the development of a world-class workforce.

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee members are the Workforce Board Officers, Committee Chairs and veteran business board members. It is the role of the Executive Committee to maintain communication with the designated chief local elected official and confer on progress toward achieving goals and plans. The Executive Committee is responsible for direct oversight of the Local Workforce Area Job Training Plan and the Workforce Investment Act Funds. The Executive Committee drives the Workforce Board's Strategic Plan by being a key player in the economic growth and competitiveness of the local workforce area and the region.

Youth Council

The Youth Council brings together individuals from a range of programs, policy areas, and private industry that are working together to develop comprehensive and effective youth strategies under the guiding principles of the Workforce Board and aligned with the Workforce Board Strategic Plan Goals and Outcomes. The Youth Council is responsible for developing the local area's WIA Youth Job Training Plan; overseeing the procurement and selection of eligible WIA youth providers; and conducting program oversight.

Service Delivery Committee

The Service Delivery Committee directs and oversees the quality and efficiency of workforce development services to the employers and job seekers with an emphasis on continuous improvement efforts to better serve local labor market needs.  The Service Delivery Committee brings together individuals from a range of programs, policy areas, and private industry who are working together to develop a high quality system of labor exchange, skill development, job preparation, and retention services to assist the regional labor force and employers in meeting their employment and workforce needs.  The Service Delivery Committee is responsible for recommending policy direction to the full Board regarding the design, development, and implementation of programs that benefit the adult job seeker and the business and employer community.  The Service Delivery Committee oversees the activities and deliverables of the local Illinois workNet Centers.

Fiscal Committee

The Fiscal Committee provides financial oversight of the WIA and TAA Grants.  The Fiscal Committee is responsible for overseeing and monitoring the overall status of the workforce area as it relates to grant expenditures and obligations.  The Fiscal Committee serves in the role to address, implement and monitor corrective actions required of the Workforce Board or required by the Workforce Board.   The Fiscal Committee oversees the activities and deliverables of the local workforce area fiscal agent, Kerber Eck & Braeckel LLP.
